Wedding Bouquet Styles - No Right Or Wrong

Wedding bouquets come in three basic styles - cascade, round or posy, and hand-tied.

There are, however, almost as many wedding bouquet styles as there are types of silk flowers. This is because, unlike years ago, there are no bouquet rules you must follow. Listed below are some of the different styles of wedding bouquets along with their descriptions to help you choose the style that's right for you and your wedding.

The Cascade bouquet is shaped like a waterfall, with more flowers on top and some flowers flowing loosely downward over the bride's hands.

Teardrop bouquets are similar to the cascade except that the middle bottom hanging down is tighter and pointed. Added greenery will create a natural look. These are the more dramatic bouquets. While the Cascade bouquet has a natural flow, the teardrop bouquet is more stiff.

Nosegay bouquets are small round clusters of flowers. Each flower for this type of bouquet is usually round in shape and of equal size. Compared to the Posy, a Nosegay has less flowers with a little more greenery.

A Posy bouquet is a small round bouquet similar to a Nosegay but larger. It is made with roundish flowers. Your choice of flowers and colour pallettes are endless.

The Hand-Tied  bouquet, which is the current flower trend these days, is composed of a group of flowers of your choice bound together with a ribbon, with or without the stems revealed. This is a more casual bouquet.
Crescent bouquets are shaped like a crescent with the longer blooms to the right and to the left of center, with none hanging from the middle.
Arm Bouquets are made up of long stem flowers and are carried cradled in the arms. These are also known as the pageant or presentation bouquet.
Growing in popularity, Pomander Bouquets are actually balls covered with flowers. They have a ribbon attached to be worn around the wrist.

Dare to be different, try one of these bouquets:

Fan Bouquets can be made with actual fans where the flowers are attached near the base of the fan, or they can just be a group of flowers tied together in the shape of a fan.

Purse Bouquets are very unique. They are made of a small purse with flowers covering it and a small chain or ribbon handle. This type of bouquet allows the bride to carry a few personal things with her. It is comparable to a form of pomander bouquet.

Note that some bouquets can even be put in more than one category, like a posy which can be a hand-tied bouquet, for example. Think about all the different shapes and ideas and choose a bouquet style that makes you the happiest. Remember, there is no right or wrong!
